Revd Dr Edward Pillar (Minister) was ordained in 1990 and has led the church here in Evesham since 1995. He holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from University of Wales and regularly participates in international conferences. He is married to Sarah and they have two children – Zoe and Isaac. Edward can often be seen walking their dog – Grace – to get exercise for both of them. Edward has worked with Baptist colleges in Bristol, Manchester, and London, in teaching and mentoring students, and has served in various roles in the Heart of England Baptist Association. He is a Governor at Prince Henry’s High School, and Chair of Trustees of Evesham Street Pastors.

Kennedy Asare (Deacon & Welcome Team member) works as an informatics technical specialist. He relocated from Ghana to the United Kingdom in 2015. He is married to Stephanie Simms and has three children.
Kennedy joined Evesham Baptist Church in 2018 and became a full member 2023. Kennedy has a passion to serve God as he believes serving is an act of worship. Besides work, church and family Kennedy likes to spend time cooking new recipes and researching into medical diagnostics.

Hilary Brotherton (Deacon) has been a member of Evesham Baptist Church for nearly 30 years and has contributed to various aspects of church life, particularly with youth and senior members. She has served as a Deacon for the past year, sharing responsibilities such as arranging cover for Edward during his leave, and is also the Safeguarding Deacon. Currently, Hilary is actively involved in the Worship Group, Welcome Group, and Prayer Team. She has three adult children and four grandchildren, and works locally in the Mental Health sector. In her free time, she enjoys singing in a local choir and participating in a yoga group.

Louise Brown (Deacon) was elected in July 2025. Louise helps lead Share & Prayer and Jammies and is part of the Prayer team. Louise, her husband Simon and daughter Hannah moved to Evesham from St Albans in 2011 and have been part of EBC ever since. They all relish spending time with the older sons’ families – now living in North Yorkshire and Woburn Sands. Beyond church and family, Louise enjoys time with friends and singing with Avon Singers. If anyone would like a conversation, Louise can do messaging but would always prefer chatting over a cuppa or while walking!

Tim Ive (Deacon & Treasurer) is married to Ruth with three adult children who live nearby. They joined Evesham Baptist Church in 2024 following a move from Warwick, where they lived since getting married. Tim became a Christian in the 1970’s having been brought up in a Christian environment. He has a passion for the Gospel, sharing and learning God’s truth and the wonderful promise He has for us. Tim is a civil engineer, appreciating man-made structures that are eclipsed by God’s created world. Now partially retired, he spends time walking, gardening, holidays, DIY, and appreciating a very slightly slower pace of life.

Derek Markie (Deacon) convenes the Fabric Team and arranges Lettings for the building. He is a Chemical Engineer, now retired, and also leads the welcome/steward’s team and covers Health & Safety issues.
Derek is married to Margaret and they have two daughters with families living in Wales and Hampshire. They moved to Evesham in 2012 having lived in five counties (one in Scotland) over their 50-year married life. Margaret and Derek were both brought up in churches and committed themselves in Baptism in their teens. They have had all sorts of roles in various churches and elsewhere since.

Catherine Watton (Deacon), known as “Put”, has served since late 2023. She is part of our Worship Team; she also coordinates prayer activities and is always happy to talk about how to get the church praying (all ideas welcome). Some years ago, Put experienced baby loss and knows this can be a difficult and hidden grief for many women and families. Her heart is that church be a place where losses can be safely acknowledged and shared. Put is a freelance technical author (audit and assurance). She is a mother, a school governor, and, in what spare time she has, a prayer poet and journaler.
